Solemn Act of Birretes Imposition
On the occasion of Saint Thomas Aquinas feast, on Friday 29 January 2016, at 11:00 am, the Solemn Ceremony of naming the filmmaker Costa-Gavras as Doctor Honoris Causa, as well as the imposition of caps on the new Doctors (PhD) for the 2014/15 academic year, took place in the Auditorium of Madrid Complutense University (San Bernardo Street 49).
The ceremony was presided over by the University’s Rector, Dr. Carlos Andradas, and was dressed in all the pomp and solemnity typical of this kind of academic event, extending over a period of approximately two hours. The new Doctors (PhD), dressed in togas, mucetas and puñetas according to the each Faculty’s colour (white in the Fine Arts case), white gloves and with the cap in hand, we approached one by one to the platform where the Rector imposed it to us and, giving us the embrace of welcome, he received us in the University Cloister. Afterwards, we were presented with the “Book of Wisdom”, and the Fine Arts Faculty’s Dean, Dr. Elena Blanch González, gave us the corresponding welcome hug.
I went to the event with my mother and my thesis director, my friend Alicia Sánchez Ortiz. In addition, there we coincided with Arianne, to whom Alicia also directed her thesis.
